No, you will be granted a free entry visa on arrival. Depending on your financial status, you can apply for maximum thirty days.

K.D Ahmed Maniku’s resignation letter was accepted on 09th Nov 2008 by former President, His Excellency Maumoon Abdul Gayyoom. A short period of service starting from 07th Sep 2008 as a Minister of State, Controller of Immigration and Emigration, who did a tremendous job which implemented new structural changes.

K.D Ahmed Maniku have been a remarkable leader of Department of Immigration and Emigration over the past years. His tenure in this department had made two potential periods bringing progress changes into the organization.

The meeting was organized by the government of japan and participants from Maldives were zinmaadharu veriyaa Mr. Hamid Fathuhulla and Chief immigration Officer Mr. Hassan Rifaee bushry. Total 22 participants from 11 countries are taking part in this meeting. (Brunei, Republic of china, Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, Indonesia, Korea, Malaysia, Maldives, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Japan)

Mr. Hamid Fathuhulla, Zinmaadhaaru Veriyaa of the Department of Immigration and Emigration of the Maldives has signed an agreement to become a member of the IF4TD at Tokyo, Japan on 13th November 2008. The membership is open for the Travel Document / Identity Card Issuing Authorities. Hence the benefit of becoming a member is to have a global central platform for information sharing and to communicate with experts on Travel document Issues and to deliver updated information on conferences / events globally.

Maldives Immigration while being vigilant, will use all of its resources to protect the borders of Maldives, from undesirable or harmful effects from immigrants and aliens, that might deter or disrupt the harmony and solidarity of the sovereign Maldives. Immigration also will facilitate and provide safe passage into and out of Maldives for genuine travelers.
